In this second post for "Write to Marry Day" I give you a video in favor of Prop 8 but with any references to "same-sex marriage" or gay people removed and instead replaced with "interracial marriage" or blacks. Thanks to frances_lievens who picked it up from a guy named Derek . Thanks to you both! Associating the civil rights movement for blacks in America with the gay rights movement often brings up a lot of contention. Many if not most blacks are against the idea. And yet some are for it. Witness that relatives of Dr Martin Luther King are opposite sides of the issue. And yet one of those at the heart of the civil rights issue from the time of WWII onward to the end, was Bayard Rustin, a gay man. Rustin, a Quaker, was the man behind the legend, Dr Martin Luther King, in both the adoption of non-violent demonstrations and the March on Washington, known for King's "I Have A Dream" speech. Rustin always said that the next great civil rights movement would be that for gay peoples.
